Summer Mommy Guilt

It’s the last week of school, and I already feel guilty.

On one hand, I’m super excited about no school, more freedom in our schedule for a few months and about all of the fun that summer brings!

On the other hand, I feel bad that I’m not freed up to hang out at home and do fun things with my kids all summer.

You see, I’m a mom that works full-time. And I absolutely love my job and am blessed immensely by the chance to work, but I’ve got to be straight up honest with you.  Summers are hard on me. I still have to wake up my kids early in the mornings. There’s not much time for them to chill at home. We miss out on fun activities. And I feel really bad about it! All summer long!  I breathe a small sigh of relief when school starts back up each year because I get to quit being so hard on myself!  And I realize I shouldn’t be so hard on myself, but come on!  This is mommy guilt we’re talking about!  That’s some tough stuff to shake! 🙂

Last summer, since my twins were a little older, we went to the pool pretty often after I got off work. And I tried to have fun things lined up for us to do on nights or weekends.

I’m wanting to start planning for the summer, but I need some help!

What are some fun ideas for working moms for the summer?  What does your family enjoy doing together on week nights or weekends?  How do you make summer fun for your family?

Thanks for your help!  May we all have an exciting, fun, guilt-free summer! 🙂
